Carraig na Cuach Crafts

Made in Donegal

Working from the family home in Maas, Co. Donegal, twin sisters Alison and Gillian Moore strive to create functional and decorative work that evoke and showcase the natural beauty of the county. Having graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design with BA Honours degrees in Ceramic Design, they both centre their craft on ceramics. Each piece is lovingly hand-crafted and hand-painted, whether it is stoneware clay or delicate porcelain paper clay. However, they are not limited to ceramics, also expressing their creativity through wood, pencil, paint, recycled glass etc. These sisters create work for the home, each containing a little bit of the Emerald Isle.

Name Origin: Carraig na Cuach is Irish for "the rock of the cuckoo", known by the Moore family simply as the Cuckoo Rock (pictured above). It is situated on the hill behind the studio, and given the title of Cuckoo Rock as a cuckoo would land on it every year, to sing it's song throughout the valley of Maas.
